AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS OF MAINE

Pony Express

The American Legion Riders have revived the Pony Express.

Riding on steel horses the "Pony Express Riders" are riding from Legion Post to Legion Post picking up donations collected for the American Legacy Scholarship Fund which is for the children of fallen soldiers since 9/11. The Pony Express Riders traveled to Millinocket this past weekend where they transferred checks totaling over $1500.00 in donations to other P E Riders who will travel to other Legion Posts from state to state meeting up with other P E Riders and picking up more donations on their way to Indianapolis, Indiana where they will hand the donations over to other P E Riders, who will continue picking up donations from state to state and meeting up with other riders until they reach the  American Legion National Convention taking place in Phoenix, Arizona August 17-21, 2008. Last year the American Legion Riders raised over $400,000.00, nation wide, and hope to raise at least 1 and 1/2 times as much this year.

We couldn't do it without the help and support of our local Posts and Communities.
